Howdo, Anyone used a Opto Digital scout (10 mhz-2.6 ghz).!with or without reaction tuning the Scanner, with it.!
Optoelectronics
Will it capture 'Digital modulation' as well as conventional analogue.does any folk know? i.e.RF from macrocells ,2.4ghz cctv, etc. Is it similar to 'close call' on a modern radio scanner , in any way ? Just a query .!always thought of investing in one,not anymore though seeing as the radio signals round my vicinity are dull and pretty much all 'digital & data' .to say the least, living in a small community with lot'sa hilly terrain. Bye
A NEW SCOUT FOR THE DIGITAL AGE
Digital Scout
The new Digital Scout RF frequency recorder / field strength meter isthe only nearfield instrument capable of counting digitalsignals, as well as analog signals from 10MHz - 2.6GHz. Until now, the only signals that afrequency counter could lock onto were analog signals. In addition to locking onto digitaland analog signals, the Digital Scout has a calibrated signal strength measurement from-45dBm to -5dBm.
DIGITAL MODULATIONS
The Digital Scout is capable of detecting many different types ofdigital modulations that have a minimum pulse width of 500uS, signals such as TDMA, GSM,APCO 25, ON/OFF Keying, TETRA and more.
The Digital Scout is not capable of counting signals such as SpreadSpectrum, CDMA and PCS.
SIGNAL STRENGTH
Optoelectronics Inc
Another breakthrough feature of the Digital Scout is the calibratedfield strength measurement provided on the two line LCD display. The Digital Scoutdisplays field strength in dBm with a signal strength bargraph serving as a reference. TheDigital Scout reads and displays signal levels from -45dBm to -5dBm with an accuracy of+/- 5dBm. This feature is great for checking nearfield RF levels at remote sites, locatinghidden transmitters, determining power levels from two-way radios and more.
REACTION TUNE
The Digital Scout incorporates the patented Optoelectronics feature,Reaction Tune. In Reaction Tune mode the Digital Scout captures a frequency andautomatically tunes a compatible receiver to that frequency. This allows the user toinstantly monitor the audio of the captured signal (analog signals only). Those receiverscompatible with the Digital Scout for Reaction Tune are as follows.
ICOM IC R10, R7000, R7100, R8500, R9000. AOR AR8000 and AR8200. BC245XLTand BC780. OPTOELECTRONICS Optocom, Os456/Lite, OS535 and R11
All ICOM: CBCI5, AORAR8000: RT8000, AOR AR8200:RT8200, BC245XLT/BC780: (SmartLink from Scannermaster), OPTOELECTRONICSOptocom/OS456/Lite/OS535: CBCI5, R11: CBRT
PC INTERFACE
The Digital Scout has a built-in CI-5 interface that can be used tointerface to the Optoelectronics Optolinx for downloading frequencies saved to memory. This interface allows for direct connection to the Optolinx which in turn interfacesdirectly to serial port on a PC.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The Digital Scout has a unique way of displaying the frequency measured.Like most conventional frequency counters, the Digital Scout will display the actualmeasured frequency coming from a transmitter, such as 454.1247. However, the Digital Scoutcan also display the actual channel frequency of the transmitter, such as 454.1250. Thisis especially useful to the two way radio professional when programming new radios.
The Digital Scout has 1000 memories with up to 65,000 hits per memory.Memory can then be downloaded directly to a PC using the Optolinx interface.
